What is that?

Students in particularly severe social and economic hardship can be recognised as a hardship case on application and can have the semester fee refunded in the form of a grant.

Application deadline for applications for the summer semester: May the 2st 2024.

How is the calculation made?

The upper income limit for approval of the application is currently calculated from the following amounts:

  • 400€/person as an amount of exemption
  • Rental costs (appropriateness analogous to rental level III)
  • utility costs (heating, electricity, water)
  • Costs for an internet connection
  • Amount of "Rundfunkbeitrag", if it is to be paid by the applicant
  • Costs for health and nursing care insurance, if these are to be paid for by the applicant

What else must be proven?

In addition, you have to describe your emergency situation and show that you are trying to improve your situation within your possibilities. It is also necessary for the application that you are enrolled at TU Dresden. Students on leave of absence and second degree courses (except postgraduate courses) can only be recognised as a hardship case in exceptional cases.

Where can I find further information?

Further information can be found in our Härtefallordnung (German version only). You can find the application here.
