The student body consists of the students of the university in accordance with Section 25 (1) of the Saxon Higher Education Act (SächsHSG). It is a constituent body of the university with legal capacity and has the right of self-governance within the framework of the law, Section 25 (2) Sentence 1 of the SächsHSG.

The Student Council of TUD Dresden University of Technology is represented by the Executive Board of the Student Council. The current members of the Executive Board are Roman Matthias Roller, Thomas Voita, Franziska Kossatz, Gregor Mitzka, Maurice Vetter, and Tigo Stolzenberger.

In accordance with Section 24 (2) Sentence 2 of the Saxon Higher Education Freedom Act (SächsHSFG), the student body of TUD Dresden University of Technology is subject to legal supervision by the university, represented by the University Executive Board.
