Student Groups

The Student Council (StuRa) at TU Dresden promotes volunteer work among the student body by recognizing student organizations as university groups. You can find more details in the Guidelines on the Recognition and Revocation of Student Groups. The StuRa internally refers to these supported university groups as “recognized university groups”; they are listed below.

In addition, project-based financial support is available. Decisions on financial support are made on a case-by-case basis. You can find more details on the page about financial applications.

Another element of the StuRa’s support policy is the Mommsenstraße Kiosk. It is made available to student projects for a limited time as a space for independent activities on campus. The executive board decides on its allocation; its use can vary widely. But find out for yourself; feel free to ask the StuRa executive board about this.

To facilitate communication between university groups and the StuRa, we have set up an email distribution list at hochschulgruppen@stura.tu-dresden.de, which reaches all recognized university groups and is moderated by the StuRa executive board.

Recognition as a Student Group

Applications for recognition as a student group (HSG) must be submitted from a TU Dresden email address.

If your HSG was already recognized in the previous fiscal year, you can apply to renew your recognition as a student group. This process is primarily conducted in writing and does not require the presence of group representatives as long as there have been no major changes in your student group.

If, after recognition has been granted, you need written confirmation of the HSG’s recognition, you must submit a request to the StuRa Service Office.

The regulatory framework for the recognition of student groups by the StuRa is set forth in the Guidelines on the Recognition and Revocation of Student Groups – specifically § 1.
