MOBIbike (Nextbike)

+++ Earn free minutes at all stations on main campus +++

+++ Now you can also use MOBIbike cargo bikes for free for 60 minutes per rental +++

The following terms apply:

  • 30 free minutes per rental for MOBIbikes in Dresden and Heidenau, as well as in almost all other German nextbike cities (except Bremen, Oldenburg, Nuremberg, and on Usedom)
  • After that, €1.00 per additional half-hour, up to a maximum of €15.00 per 24 hours
  • You can earn 10 free minutes when you return a bike to a MOBIpoint. You can earn a maximum of 150 free minutes
  • The discounts apply only to the first bike rented at any given time
  • If the bike returned to the red return zone, you will be charged a €20 penalty
  • 60 free minutes per rental for MOBIcarobikes (cargo bikes) in Dresden
  • After that, €2.00 per additional half-hour, up to a maximum of €18.00 per 24 hours
  • MOBIcargobikes must always be returned to their home station; otherwise, a service fee of at least 20 euros will be charged.

How does registration work?

1. Registration

Register at https://secure.nextbike.net/dx/de/dresden/registrierung/

To do this, you’ll need to enter the required information, accept the Terms and Conditions, and click “Place an order with payment required”/“Register.”

Note: Registration is free. Since usage beyond the free minutes is subject to a fee, you may see the somewhat off-putting phrase “Place an order with payment required” which Nextbike is required to use. However, you’ll only be charged if you ride beyond the free allowance.

If you exceed the free minutes and haven’t provided payment information, your account will be suspended. As soon as you provide payment information (credit card or direct debit), your account will be reactivated.

Under “My Account” -> “Partners,” click on “Click here to link to partner: TU Dresden Semester Ticket.” Next, you’ll need to select your university and enter your university login credentials.

Note: The link is valid for the semester in which you activated the Semesterticket plan. It also remains valid for the first 6 weeks of the following semester. After 4 weeks, you’ll receive a reminder to re-authenticate via push notification or email.

“Semesterticket TU Dresden” should now appear under “My Account.”

How do rentals and returns work?

This is a schematic overview of how MOBIbike returns work. In red return zones, a fee of €20 applies. In yellow return zones, a fee of €1 applies. Returns are free at MOBI points, virtual stations, and in white zones. At MOBI points, you’ll also receive 10 free minutes.

You can find general information on the MOBIbike website. We recommend renting via the app, as it allows you to view all stations, including current bike availability. All bikes are equipped with electronic frame locks. The locks open automatically when you rent a bike; to return it, simply close the lock. You can temporarily park the bike using the app.

When you return the bike to a MOBIpoint, you’ll receive 10 credit minutes that can be used for your next rentals. These are applied after the 30 free minutes. This means you can often ride for longer than 30 minutes for free!

If the bike is not returned to a MOBI point, a virtual station, a white return zone, or a yellow return zone (€1 fee), but instead to the red return zone, you will automatically be charged a €20 penalty! If the bike’s location has been recorded incorrectly, please contact nextbike customer service by phone or live chat (based on experience, emails take a very long time to process). Also, always try to check out the bike again and move it to the correct location.

  • Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft (Schnorrstraße)
  • Wundtstraße (Studierendenwohnheime)
  • St. Petersburger Straße (Studierendenwohnheime)
  • Fritz-Löffler-Straße (Studentenwerk Dresden; Studierendenwohnheime)

Important: The cargo bikes must always be returned to their respective rental stations!

Having trouble signing up?

Known issues: Connection error: “Error connecting customer with partner, please contact our hotline”

This error may occur if you have previously linked your TU account to another Nextbike account. In that case, please check whether you have already linked an old phone number to your semester ticket and, if necessary, delete the old link. If you do not have access to the old phone number, please contact Nextbike Support with the phone number to resolve the issue. Only they can resolve the issue.
