Departments and Units
Department of Finance
The Department of Finance takes care of the proper administration of the student body’s contribution fees and the financial infrastructure of the Student Council. This is where the annual budget plan is drawn up, cash management is conducted, and the equipment rental service is managed. Additionally, the department advises students, Faculty Student Councils, and student groups on questions regarding financial and logistical funding for projects as well as on submitting applications.
Acting Executive Director of Finance is Roman Matthias Roller.
Units
The Finance and Project Funding Unit supports and advises students and student groups on questions regarding ideal, logistical, and financial support from the Student Council and helps with applying for funding.
It advises Faculty Students Councils on financial questions. Among other things, it provides support with questions regarding the financial planning of events. The unit is responsible for conceptualizing the Student Council's equipment rental service.
The Structure Unit supports the Unit Lead of Structure in carrying out their duties. It keeps an overview of the internal workflows of the Student Council and regularly checks whether regulations or guidelines require amendment.
The IT Unit deals with the provision and maintenance of the Student Council's IT infrastructure. It is the contact point for all problems that various volunteers and employees have with electronic work devices.
Department of Internal Affairs
The Department of Internal Affairs ties together the threads for smooth collaboration behind the scenes. The department coordinates internal workflows, represents the interests of the Student Council’s employees, and takes care of occupational health and safety as well as office equipment. Furthermore, it promotes community building and knowledge management among volunteers—for instance, at FSR meetings or the university conference (UFaTa)—and provides advice on data protection issues.
Acting Executive Director of Internal Affairs is Thomas Voita.
Units
The Employees Unit supports the Executive Director of Internal Affairs in their HR duties.
The Community Building Unit is responsible for promoting regular exchange among all volunteers (particularly Faculty Student Councils and Units of the Student Council).
The Privacy Policy Unit serves students and the Student Council as an expert contact point regarding data protection regulations.
Department of Higher Education Policy
The Department of Higher Education Policy represents the higher education policy interests of all students toward the University Executive Board, politicians, and nationwide associations. In addition to critically monitoring developments at the university (e.g., the Excellence Strategy or higher education legislation), its scope of duties covers equal opportunities and anti-discrimination, political education, civic engagement (WHAT), as well as organizing and negotiating the student Semesterticket (Mobility).
Acting Executive Director of Higher Education Policy is Franziska Kossatz.
Units
The Higher Education Policy Unit is responsible for representing the higher education policy interests of the student body.
The Equality Policy Unit supports the Student Council and the university in their mandate for equal opportunities and advocates for a diverse community. Its main task is the education and awareness-building of all interested students regarding gender equality. This includes educating on the social relevance of gender, gender identity, and sexual orientation, raising awareness about discrimination, and encouraging emancipatory action.
The Political Education Unit organizes regular events for the political education of the student body. This means imparting and strengthening tolerance, emancipation, and critical thinking, thereby anchoring democratic principles among students. The goal is to promote understanding of political issues, consolidate democratic awareness, and strengthen the willingness for political participation.
The Knowledge, Action and Active Participation (WHAT) Unit is tasked with promoting and executing political statements and activities of the student body. In doing so, particular emphasis is placed on expanding students' engagement with political and social issues.
All tasks are carried out on the basis of the common interests of the student body. This also means that the unit acts in the spirit of a tolerant and open society and aligns its work against all forms of racism, sexism, fascism, and group-focused enmity. A key focus is on topics and matters of particular relevance in Dresden and Saxony – such as critical monitoring of the demonstrations surrounding February 13th.
The Mobility Unit deals with all aspects of student mobility in the Dresden university area. It focuses in particular on sustainable modes of transport, such as cycling, walking, and public transportation.
Department of Studies and Campus Life
This Department of Studies and Campus Life advocates for optimal framework conditions in teaching, studies, and examinations. It accompanies university quality processes and examination regulations and offers advice on problems regarding study and examination law. In addition, the department promotes cultural life on campus by supporting student cultural organizers and represents the interests of students in university sports.
Acting Executive Director of Studies and Campus Life is Gregor Mitzka.
Units
The Education and Studies Unit is responsible for matters concerning teaching, studies, and study organization. It aims to prevent problems during studies proactively through information, advice, and the adaptation of study conditions. Additionally, the unit serves as an advisory contact point for school students, prospective students, and students from other universities.
The Sports Unit is responsible for promoting student sports.
The Culture Unit advises and supports student cultural institutions and cultural organizers, particularly regarding ideal, logistical, and financial support from the Student Council.
It also carries out conceptual work on cultural promotion and supports the political and social work of the Student Council by organizing cultural events (for example exhibitions, street theater, and concerts). Furthermore, it serves as a contact point for external cultural organizers and engages in community building with cultural institutions.
Department of Social Affairs
The Department of Social Affairs is the central contact point for financial, personal, and structural hurdles in everyday student life. Besides offering advice on financial emergencies (e.g., BAföG, hardship cases, social benefits), the department actively advocates for the interests of international students, equal opportunities for studying with children or caregiving responsibilities, as well as accessibility and inclusion on campus.
Acting Executive Director of Social Affairs is Maurice Vetter.
Units
The Social Affairs Unit deals with financial emergencies during studies and other social problems and concerns of students at TUD Dresden University of Technology.
The International Students Unit deals with the integration of international students as well as internationalization. To fulfill its tasks, the unit maintains contact with representatives of international students and organizations for internationalization. These include, for example, the Study Abroad Co-ordinators, the Federal Union of International Students (bas), and AEGEE.
The Inclusion Unit deals with the needs of students with disabilities and chronic illnesses and the removal of barriers. It advocates for an improved understanding of accessibility issues.
The Family-Friendly Studies Unit deals with improving equal opportunities for studying with children and/or caregiving responsibilities. It collaborates with the campus office "Uni mit Kind" and maintains contact with other relevant offices and institutions at TUD Dresden University of Technology.
Department of Public Relations
The Department of Public Relations transparently communicates the work and positions of the Student Council to the outside world. It answers press inquiries, maintains the website, social media channels, and the student mailing list, and designs information materials in accordance with the university corporate design. Furthermore, the department organizes and coordinates the Student Council’s presence at central campus events such as Open Topic Day or info markets.

Units
The Communication and Design Unit publishes advertising and information about the Student Council.
The Event Management Unit plans, organizes, and supports events that are student-organized or aimed at students and prospective students.
