The Higher Education Policy Division (HoPo) is responsible for representing the student body’s interests in higher education policy.

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring legislative amendments relevant to higher education (particularly the Saxon Higher Education Act (SächsHSG), the Federal Training Assistance Act (BAföG), and the Academic Fixed-Term Employment Act (WissZeitVG))
  • Networking with political stakeholders and aligning their efforts with students’ needs
  • Taking a stance on university funding and the university’s budget management
  • Monitoring developments of university-wide significance, particularly the critical monitoring of the Excellence Strategy
  • Monitoring (supra)regional and international developments in higher education policy

This results in contacts with the following institutions and individuals in particular:

  • University Executive Board, Senate, and Senate Commission
  • Relevant ministries (in particular, the State Ministry of Science, Art, and Tourism)
  • Konferenz Sächsischer Studierendenschaften (KSS)
  • freier zusammenschluss von student*innenschaften e. V. (fzs)
  • Student senators
  • (Political) university groups
  • (Supraregional) and international student associations
