Equality Policy Unit

A banner with "Referat Gleichstellungspolitik" (German for Equality Policy Unit) written on it.

The Equality Policy Unit supports the Student Council and the University in fulfilling their gender equality mandate and promotes a diverse community. Its main task is to educate and raise awareness amongst all interested students regarding gender equality. This includes providing information on the social significance of gender, gender identity and sexual orientation, as well as raising awareness of discrimination, and encouraging emancipatory action.

Unit lead: vacant

  • Sara P.
  • Tony M.

Tasks

  • Organising events (such as workshops, talks and film screenings)
  • Put together information and campaign materials (such as leaflets, cards, stickers and brochures)
  • Representing the organisation on various university committees dealing with gender equality
  • (Inter)regional exchanges with experts and networks

The unit approaches gender equality issues from an intersectional and pluralistic perspective, based on the principle that all people should have the same rights and opportunities. It does not focus exclusively on sexism, but also addresses other forms of discrimination such as racism, classism, ableism, discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation or religious belief, as well as the intersections between these categories (multiple discrimination).

Being discriminated at university?!

If you have been harassed and/or discriminated against, please contact the complaints office. There, you will be taken seriously and your case will be handled anonymously! You can discuss possible courses of action, but even if you don’t want to take any further steps, it’s great if you get in touch! The case will then simply be documented anonymously (which is also extremely important!).

Contact details: Anja Wiede - beschwerden-diskriminierung@tu-dresden.de

Reports can also be submitted anonymously via the BKMS reporting system.

We look forward to meeting you :)

Free period products on campus

We believe that everyone who needs it should have access to free period products in public spaces, such as tampons and sanitary pads. That’s why we’re campaigning for free period products on campus. However, as this sadly isn’t yet standard practice at our university, you find a map here showing where dispensers are already available (continually updated):

The dispensers shown on this map were mainly set up on the initiative of students and were funded by the StuRa and from gender equality funds. You know about more dispensers on campus? Send us an email!
