The Semesterticket (Deutschlandticket and Nextbike micro mobility bike system) is a solidarity ticket. Accordingly, a refund is only possible in defined exceptional cases. The Semesterticket is refunded on a monthly basis.
If you hold a severely disabled person’s pass with one of the valid marks aG, Bl, TBl, H
If you hold a severely disabled person’s pass with one of the valid marks G, GI, each with a valid supplementary token
Completion of a study-related internship or other study-related employment outside the area of the Verkehrsverbund Oberelbe (VVO)
Writing a diploma thesis or other final thesis for study-related reasons outside the VVO area
subsequent leave of absence
doctorate outside the VVO area
study-related stay abroad without leave of absence
enrolment or de-registration during the current semester
Double purchase of the Semesterticket contract or parts thereof due to enrolment at another university that participates in the Semesterticket contract
Loss of permission to ride a bicycle
In all other cases, such as holding a Bahncard 100, NO refund is possible.
Note:
Only full months are refunded; a retroactive refund is not possible! Application deadline for a refund in the case of enrolment during the current semester: 6 weeks after enrolment
Application deadline for all other reasons: no later than 6 days after the ground for the refund arises.
If applicable, submit any missing supporting documents as soon as possible.
After we have received your application, we will process it and get in touch if we require further documents.
Please note that applications must be submitted separately for each semester. If your ground for a refund concerns both the winter semester and the summer semester, you must submit two applications.
Note:
The electronic blocking of the Semesterticket after the application is received by the StuRa does not pre-empt the decision on whether a refund will be granted!
Processing can take up to eight weeks!
If your application is complete and approved, you will receive the money transferred to your account from us a few weeks later (without any further notification).
If we take the view that a refund is not possible, you will receive a notice of rejection by post or email.
If you have further questions about the refund procedure, please contact the Service Office.
For general suggestions and requests for improvement, please contact our Mobility Unit.
Not necessarily.
In the case of a leave of absence, you can choose during re-registration whether you want to purchase the Semesterticket. If you already know that you do not want to buy the ticket, we ask you to state this during re-registration, so that the Semesterticket does not have to be refunded via a refund application.
In the case of a subsequent leave of absence during the current semester, a partial refund for the remaining full months after the leave of absence is also possible. Here, too, the refund period only begins once the refund application has been received.
No.
The Semesterticket is a solidarity ticket. This means that every student (with the exceptions) must purchase the ticket. In return, all students receive the ticket at the reduced price of 60% of the Deutschlandticket.
The semester fee is NOT the same as the Semesterticket share.
The Semesterticket share (refund amount) is calculated as follows from the winter semester 2026/27 onwards:
The refund amount per month is €37.80.
If all 6 months in a semester are refunded, the contribution for the use of the micro mobility bike systems (€7.38) is refunded in addition.
The refund for 6 months amounts to €234.80.
The other components of the semester fee are not refunded here.
This can have various reasons.
Often, however, the application was received after the deadline, so that the actual first refund month can no longer be refunded.
The other components of the semester fee are not refunded here.
Unfortunately not.
As the Student Council, we take the decision on behalf of the transport company. Accordingly, we ourselves have little leeway and are bound by the Semesterticket contract and the associated contribution regulations.
Below we have briefly written down for you which supporting documents are necessary for each ground for a refund.
Scan of both sides of the pass
Scan of the supplementary token (not applicable for the marks aG, Bl, TBl, H)
If your supplementary token is not valid for the whole semester, submit the application first and hand in the new token later!
In this case it is possible to be exempted from the obligation to pay the share for the Semesterticket before re-registration. This is possible via an application in selma (https://selma.tu-dresden.de/).
There you will find the application under Study organisation -> Application overview.
For marks without a supplementary token, the exemption applies for the entire course of study; for marks with a supplementary token (G and Gl), for one semester.
Supporting documents can be:
Employment contract (with exact dates from when to when)
Internship contract (with exact dates from when to when)
other supporting documents are possible; these must confirm the stay outside the VVO area and contain exact dates
Please note that the employment or the internship must be study-related! Voluntary internships or work as a side job alongside your studies are not grounds for a refund. In case of doubt, further supporting documents may be requested.
Supporting documents can be:
Contract for the final thesis stating the stay outside the VVO area (Verkehrsverbund Oberelbe) (with exact dates from when to when)
a separate letter of confirmation from the supervisor confirming the location and the expected duration of the doctorate with exact dates
A refund is only granted for stays abroad with a connection to your studies, such as an ERASMUS semester, exchange programmes, compulsory semesters abroad or similar.
A stay purely for holiday purposes is not eligible for a refund. This also applies to voluntarily extending the stay for travel or similar after the compulsory phase.
Supporting documents can be:
ERASMUS contract
Confirmation from the foreign university
IMPORTANT: The supporting document must state the stay at the university with exact dates. A general statement of the semester is not sufficient.
Flight tickets or rental contracts are also not sufficient!
Supporting document: certificate of enrolment
Different application deadline: six weeks after enrolment
Supporting document: certificate of de-registration
Important: From the date of your de-registration, your Semesterticket is blocked. From that date you can no longer use it, regardless of the application.
For the refund, the date the application is received still applies — not the date of the block — for the months that can be refunded!
Note: As a rule, the university only de-registers you at the end of the semester when you successfully complete your studies. If you no longer wish to use the ticket, you can submit an application for de-registration at the earliest possible date to the ServiceCenterStudium and then have the ticket refunded by us.
On this ground, a refund is only granted if your other university also offers a Deutschlandsemesterticket under the solidarity model and you were not exempted from the ticket obligation there.
Supporting documents:
Certificate of enrolment from the other university
Proof of payment of the semester fee at the other university
Proof of holding the Semesterticket at the other university
Please note that in this case, as a rule, only the amount for the Deutschlandsemesterticket is refunded here. The bike rental amount (Mobibike) is not refunded here.
Supporting document
Letter from the driving licence authority
Please note that only the bike rental amount is refunded here. A refund is only possible here if you lose the permission for the entire semester.
